Meridian Baptist Church sprang from a Bible study that began in a local home on January 10, 1964. After being in several rented facilities, they built and occupied their first building on June 18, 1967, at the present location at 1130 W. Broadway. Two additions have been completed since then; the auditorium in 1978 and the Family Center in 1994. The present pastor, Scott Kliewer, began service as the Associate Pastor in September 1983 and assumed the Senior Pastoral role in May 2008.

The church is in doctrinal agreement and fellowship with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches, a group of independent Baptist churches sharing likeness in faith and practice. It is completely independent from any denominational oversight or ties.
